Pledge Total Reached!
I am BUZZING, grateful, emotional and relieved to have reached my 2024 pledge to Cancer Research UK.
This could not have happened without the incredible clients that have worked with me to find their next hire, and the brilliant and inspiring people that I have helped to find new roles. I am truly lucky to have worked with wonderful people this year.
When I knew that I wanted to set up a business, it was exclusively in tandem with wanting to support this charity.
Driven largely by the feeling I had when I found out that there was a 95% chance that my best friend wouldn’t be eligible for any available trial and a 1 in 4 chance that chemo would work. The powerlessness you feel when a loved one is diagnosed, is further compounded when you find out that there’s a lack of available trials suitable for someone with a rare form of cancer. It’s also the gratefulness of when advances in cancer treatment helps to fight a loved ones battle.
I wanted to make sure that I’m doing whatever I can, however small, to help. To be able to do this through my business is one of the most rewarding things I’ve ever done, and one of my 3 “why’s”.
The clients that I’ve worked with will receive an Impact Statement at the end of the year to show how much they have contributed due to their hiring.
I’m not stopping here. Whilst this year has been challenging in many ways (trying to navigate running a business, challenging economy, low-market confidence, low self-confidence!) i’ve emerged more determined to try my absolute best every day. I want to help as many people as I can, whether they’ve been made redundant, in a toxic work-situation or looking for that next step, challenge and opportunity. First and foremost, the work I do in recruitment is to try and match people with their ideal job, and to find companies the perfect fit for their team, but the donations are a positive consequence of this action, and i’m so happy that I can get to do this, especially in memory of my friend, Mai.
Thanks again to all those who have put their trust in me, worked with me, supported me and referred people to me, throughout the first year of working solo. Truly grateful! I know Mai would be proud of me, but I am even more so to have known her :)
